OUR SOLUTIONS - THERMO / VACUUM FORMING

To support the various film and sheet applications such as the pharmaceutical industry, Macro Plastic offers an extensive range of films and sheets specially formulated for general-purpose thermoform/vacuum forming packaging.

Thermoforming

Thermoforming is a manufacturing process in which a plastic film/sheet is heated to a pliable forming temperature, formed to a specific shape in a mold, and trimmed to create a usable product. The film/sheet is heated in an oven to a high enough temperature that it can be stretched into or onto a mold and cooled to a finished shape.

Thermoforming differs from injection molding, blow molding, rotational molding, and other forms of processing plastics. Films and sheets manufactured via this process are ideal for clamshells, face seal blisters, trays, display, and other contoured shapes.

Vacuum forming
Vacuum forming, on the other hand, is a simplified version of thermoforming, whereby a film/sheet of plastic is heated to a forming temperature, stretched onto or into a single-surface mold, and held against the mold by applying a vacuum between the mold surface and the film/sheet.
This vacuum forming process can be used to make most product packaging, speaker casings, and even car dashboards.

Our thermoformed / vacuum formed films and sheets solutions offer:

- Exceptionally clear films and sheets to help increase a product’s shelf attraction
- Durability and impact-resistance to physically protect products
- Good performance on customer’s machinery to improve processing yield
- Excellent formability for standard and deep-draw packages
- Reliable sealing features using RF, heat, or ultrasonic methods
- Outstanding cutting ability to decrease knife wear and increase uptime
- Tighter gauge control to reduce the quantity of film/sheet required
